Volunteer Positions
All volunteer roles require an early start, you may be asked to be on duty as early as 6am.
As the MS Melbourne Cycle is on a Sunday, please check your transport options before applying. Parking is plentiful however public transport is typically only available after 8am in the morning which will prevent you from arriving on time to undertake a volunteer position.
COURSE MARSHAL
The Course Marshals role is crucial to both the operations of the event and the safety of the participants. Located strategically along the route, you will direct, encourage and generally entertain participants as they ride throughout the course. Marshals are provided with props in order to create a fantastic atmosphere and support the riders. In excess of 140 Course Marshals are required to support the MS Melbourne Cycle.
SITE VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
Site Marshal
Located at either start/finish or rest sites, marshals give encouragement, directions, assistance to the ride participants and they also ensure water is provided to the cyclists, either as they start / finish the ride, or when they take a break along the course.
Enter on the day
Assist with processing 'enter on the day' registrations (for participants who wish to register on the day of the event). Located at the start/finish site - Princess Park, Carlton.
Pre Paid Pick Up
Assist with processing 'pre-paid entry' registrations (for participants who have pre-paid but need to pick up their entry kits on the day of the event). Located at the start/finish site - Princess Park, Carlton.
Information Desk
Provide information to participants who need directions or advice at the event. Located at the start/finish site - Princess Park, Carlton.
Cloaking
Provide a service to any participants who wish to have their belongings cloaked. Located at the start/finish site - Princess Park, Carlton.
Merchandising
Assist with the promotion and sale of MS Melbourne Cycle merchandise. Located at the start/finish site - Princess Park, Carlton.
Equipment and Signage
Assist with setting up (bump in) and packing up (bump out) of equipment at the start/finish site and signage around the course. (This role may also require pre event assistance on the Saturday as well). This is a very active role and the work is physically demanding. Located at the start/finish site - Princess Park, Carlton.
